A relaxed bistro atmosphere right on the shore of Lake Balaton – now with our finalist dishes from the Beach Food of the Year 2026 competition.

As part of Club Tihany Resort’s gastronomic renewal, the waterfront restaurant formerly known as Beach Grill has been given a new name, a new menu and a new concept. At Kis Tihany Beach Bistro, fresh seasonal ingredients meet approachable bistro dishes, reimagined Lake Balaton flavours and international inspiration.

The concept was created by Executive Chef Csaba Pethő and Creative Chef Dániel Varga – and this year it also received professional recognition: three dishes from Kis Tihany Beach Bistro made it to the final of the Beach Food of the Year 2026 competition.

Three dishes, three places in the final

The Beach Food of the Year 2026 competition attracted a record field: 44 dishes from 22 venues entered, with ten venues reaching the final. All three dishes entered by Kis Tihany Beach Bistro made it into the finalist line-up.

Catfish | Fish Soup | Pancake

Lake Balaton meets Asia on one plate. The bouillabaisse-inspired fish soup is brightened with ginger, star anise and lemongrass, and served with steamed catfish from Keszthely, tomato pico de gallo and a Korean-style vegetable scallion pancake.

A familiar Lake Balaton ingredient from a completely new perspective – light, yet full of character.

Meringue | Apricot | Pancake

Airy Japanese soufflé pancake, apricot marinated in sherry vinegar, cottage cheese ice cream flavoured with fig leaf, and Italian meringue.

A playful, fresh and light summer dessert – a completely new take on the classic Lake Balaton pancake.

Bell Pepper | Apricot | Pancake

HUF 1,800

Crispy pancake tortilla with apricot salsa from the Balaton Uplands, kimchi pepper and fresh herbs. The jury also highlighted it as a creative beach-snack idea: the pancake is used as a tortilla and served in a dip-friendly format.

Light, easy to eat by hand and a true summer Beach Food.
